It's always fascinating to see things from an American perspective, definitely a mindset I find difficult to get into as an outsider no matter how much US media I consume!

In the UK we're obsessed with immigration too at the moment, seems to be a western phenomenon at the moment. Which is strange when you couple it with all the fears about decreasing populations!

Thank you! Lots to think about. You always make sense. And following your leads always reveals how thorough you are.

Well I’m watching and unless a pointless war upends it all methinks that you’re right

We here in the US aren't examining things the way you are. More precisely, not examining at all.

That's a big problem.

The most startling thing to me is the next president's ....fixation.... that, WRT immigration, the Chinese are at the top of the list of those to be deported.

The whole mass deportation thing is mad. Immigration needs fixing, but I don't think the next guy has the insight to understand, or desire to consider, the consequences.

Given historical norms of the last term, do you have any projections on how trade-wars and trade-talks should logically proceed? I'm trying to get a read on it.

I feel like none of these conversations actually take place in reality, but in the minds of people who think they're always right and fantasise about how conversations will go in their head. In terms of 'should' I feel like the US leadership needs to be better versed on China's deep involvement in every level of the global supply chain and how difficult it would be to conduct a 'war' on that scale. In terms of how things will actually go, I think leadership on both sides will continue to bluster for political points and ignore very obvious areas for potential cooperation or de-escalation.
