China is digging its way into Europe via traditionally ‘peripheral’ states, creating a chasm between those that will accept its money and those that will not accept its dominance.
I am watching Western Empire shoot itself in the foot with a submachine gun,. Anyone with a political modicum of good sense is forced to diversify their alliances and hedge their bets. It started with the poor and downtrodden and now it seems that everyone has seen their petticoats.
Please some political and intellectual maturity. Good and evil is not a means of political analysis. And if we have to constantly spring to defense of our positions whenever adversaries are praised then we really have to question the thickness of our propaganda and the robustness of our political praxis. China works because some things work and analysis of that is just that. It's analysis. If however adherence to doctrine, proof of orthodoxy and if necessary inquisition becomes the praxis then, oh boy!
Thank God for Arthur Miller his discussions on his masterpiece The Crucible are thought provoking.

Diversify?
US... not perfect... but mitigations include US constitution... freedom of speech and thought...
Europe... not perfect... but mitigations include human rights declarations and seeing cooperation with each other as the path forward.
China...not perfect... mitigations?
